Please join Center for Juvenile Justice Reform (CJJR) on August 17th to be among the first to hear from Dr. Meghan Ogle, Stoneleigh Foundation Emerging Leader Fellow and CJJR staff member, introduce her new report, "Advancing Racial Equity in Pennsylvania's Youth Legal System." This report covers Pennsylvania's involvement in CJJR's Advancing Racial Justice and Equity in Youth Legal Systems Certificate Program, in which seven county teams (Allegheny, Chester, Lancaster, Lehigh, Montgomery, Philadelphia, and York) and one state-level team developed and implemented Capstone Projects with the goal of increasing racial equity in their youth legal system.

In addition to detailing the Capstones, the report, which was made possible through the support of the Stoneleigh Foundation's Emerging Leader Fellowship, touches on previous efforts to address racial equity in the youth legal system in the Commonwealth, data collection and use, and lessons learned from the teams' efforts.

CJJR Director Michael Umpierre will moderate the webinar, which will include the following speakers in addition to Dr. Ogle:

  • Robert Tomassini - Executive Director of the Pennsylvania Juvenile Court Judges Commission
  • Angela Bell - Assistant District Attorney and Director of the Youth Aid Panel at the Office of the District Attorney in Montgomery County, Pennsylvania
  • Michelle Harris-Alexander - Probation Supervisor in Chester County, Pennsylvania's Office of Juvenile Probation

The event is 90 minutes and includes an overview of the report, a discussion with the event participants, and a Q&A for those in attendance. Webinar attendees will also be the first in the country to receive a copy of the report.
