Join EPIP Philly on Thursday, November 29th for a Professional Development Breakfast with Sidney Hargro, Executive Director at Philanthropy Network Greater Philadelphia. (This session is rescheduled from June 2018)

The new Professional Development Breakfast series offers the opportunity to learn about different aspects of Philanthropy from Senior Staff. Topics will vary. Whether discussing current trends or lessons learned in Philanthropy, there will always be a keen focus on how emerging leaders in Philanthropy can engage and grow. Breakfast will be provided.

This event is ticketed* and the fee is $10.00.

About the Speaker

Sidney HargroSidney Hargro is a philanthropy strategist, speaker, and imagineer (advocate for reimagining approaches to social change). Hargro believes the key to effective social impact is sustained investment in trusted, talented people who lead change in their communities and the organizations they serve. He is also a street photographer who produces visual and written stories about everyday leaders of change in local communities.

Hargro leads the Philanthropy Network Greater Philadelphia. He is also a Lecturer in the School of Social Policy and Practice at the University of Pennsylvania, teaching equity-informed social impact measurement. Previously, he led the Community Foundation of South Jersey, a startup foundation, which grew from $400,000 to over $21 million in assets in seven years. Prior to that, he served as a Senior Officer at The Columbus Foundation, the nation’s 7th largest community foundation. 

He earned a Master of Science degree in mechanical engineering from The Ohio State University, Master of Divinity degree from United Theological Seminary, and a Bachelor of Science degree in mechanical engineering, summa cum laude, from North Carolina A&T State University where he served as president of Tau Beta Pi engineering honor society.

He serves on boards of regional and national organizations, including United Philanthropy Forum, World Education Services (US/CAN), Mayor's Fund of Philadelphia, and Wells Fargo Regional Foundation and CDC (Program Chair). He has also served on the boards of Grantmakers for Effective Organizations (Treasurer/Secretary), United Way of Greater Philadelphia and Southern New Jersey, N.J. Council for the Humanities, and the Council on Foundation's Community Foundation Leadership Team.

Hargro is the author of “Lessons Learned,” a chapter in the Foundation Center’s fundraising guide titled, After the Grant: A Nonprofit’s Guide to Good Stewardship. You can follow Sidney on Twitter
