Presented in partnership with the Scattergood Foundation. Come learn about strengths and challenges in the immigrant and refugee communities and how recent policies may affect health and wellness. Fernando Chang-Muy, University of Pennsylvania Law School, will present on current legal policies affecting immigrants and refugees, and as a group, we will discuss how it impacts local organizations supported by philanthropy.

The Community Fund for Immigrant Wellness (coordinated by the Thomas Scattergood Foundation and United Way of Greater Philadelphia and Southern New Jersey)- and PA is Ready!(coordinated by The Philadelphia Foundation and the Pennsylvania Immigration and Citizenship Coalition) will also share about their work.

These initiatives serve as examples of how philanthropy can support both the health and legal needs of immigrants and refugees. Both initiatives flip traditional philanthropy on its head - placing power in the hands of the community-based organizations serving these populations.
