42 new grants support individual artists and assist arts sector in emerging from the effects of COVID-19 through technology and facilities upgrades, diversity initiatives, new business models.
Grants were divided among five program areas: Healthy Behaviors-Schools, Healthy Behaviors-Parks, Healthy Behaviors-Networks, Physical and Emotional Health, and Strengthening Nonprofits.
New grants to The Philadelphia Inquirer to support initiatives that will enhance coverage of Philadelphia’s most pressing issues, with a particular focus on communities that have been historically underserved or misrepresented by journalism in the region.
With a lead gift from Facebook’s $20 Million “Supporting Black Communities” National Initiative, the new fund will fortify Black-led nonprofit organizations serving Black communities in Greater Philadelphia.
The initiative has awarded over $620,000 in grants in the last two years to advance community-driven solutions to historic food injustice.
Nine projects will use Knight support to foster resident engagement and equity in Philadelphia neighborhoods.
Eligible businesses in Atlanta, Chicago, Detroit, Houston and Philadelphia can apply for $10,000 grants. Additionally, over $2 million has been awarded to more than 20 community-based organizations and diverse chambers of commerce to provide support to BIPOC-owned, small businesses.
HealthSpark Foundation is announcing the award of $631,000 in grant funds to support 14 projects under the Safety Net Resiliency Initiative.
Ten nonprofits each received $40,000 for their integral community support in the age of COVID-19.
