Mid Atlantic Arts Foundation (MAAF) announced today that it awarded 43 grants totaling $129,333 to performing artists on the Pennsylvania Performing Arts on Tour (PennPAT) roster during fiscal year 2012 (July 2011-June 2012). Forty-one (41) grants were for Technical Assistance projects and two were Artist Strategic Opportunity Grants. A detailed list of grant awards is available by clicking here.

PennPAT increases opportunities for a pre-selected roster of artists in dance, music and theater to obtain successful touring engagements. More than 100 Pennsylvania-based professional performing artists and groups are on the 2012 Roster. All have been through a rigorous panel review process considering both artistic merit and touring readiness.

Technical Assistance Grants support projects that advance tour readiness and improve marketing and other tour management capabilities. In fiscal year 2012, PennPAT awarded 41 Technical Assistance Grants totaling $119,694 to 35 different Roster Artists. Projects included the creation of new marketing materials and promotional videos and participation in conferences and showcases.

Artist Strategic Opportunity Grants support Roster Artists' travel costs for international touring engagements that represent a strategic opportunity for the artist to expand his/her future touring ability. In fiscal year 2012, PennPAT awarded two Strategic Opportunity Grants totaling $9,639, including a grant to Lucidity Suitcase Intercontinental for a tour of Spain and a grant to Visual Expressions for travel to China.
